Caramel Frosting

2 tbsp margarine
1/4 cup firmly packed brown sugar
1 tbsp milk
1/2 tsp vanilla
3/4 cup sifted powdered sugar

Mix margarine and brown sugar.  Bring mixture to all-over boil.  Remove from heat.  Cool slightly.  Stir in milk and vanilla.  Gradually beat in powdered sugar until frosting is smooth and creamy.  If frosting is too stiff, add a little more milk for proper consistency.  Makes enough frosting to spread on top of apple'n spice cake.
