Sour Cream Spice Cake

1/3 cup butter or margarine
1 1/2 cups butter
2 eggs
2 1/2 cups sifted cake fluor
1/2 tsp soda
1 1/2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp nutmeg
1/4 tsp cloves
1 cup sour coffe cream or commercial sour cream
1 tsp vanilla

Cream butter or margarine with sugar.  Beat in eggs one at a time.  Sift and measure fluor.  Sift again several times with soda, baking powder, salt and spices.  Add a little of fluor mixture to creamed ingredients.  Bake in two greased or wax paper-lined layer pans or sheet pan about 10x12 inches, in moderate oven, 350ºF (175ºC), allowing abour 25 minutes for layers, 40 minutes for sheet cake.  Test for doneness with tip of finger pressed ligtly in center of cake.  When cake springs back, it is done.
