Basic Bread

5 1/2 - 6 cups all-purpose fluor
2 tbsp sugar
1 tbsp salt
2 packages yeast
2 1/2 cups water
1/2 cup butter or margarine

Combine 2 cups of fluor, sugar, salt and yeast in a large bowl.
Heat water and butter until very warm (120º to 130ºF). Add to dry ingredients, stirring well. Gradually stir in enough remaining fluor to make a soft dough. Knead until smooth and elastic, about 8 to 10 minutes. Cover dough and let rest for 10 minutes on a lightly fluored surface. Divide dough in half.
Roll each hatlf 12 x 8 inch rectangke.  Beginning at short end, roll up tightly as for jelly roll.  Pinch eams and ends to seal.
Place loaves, seams down, in greased 9x5 inch loaf pans.  Cover and let rise in a warm, draft free place until doubled in size, about 1 hour.
Bake at 375ºF for 30 to 35 minutes or until done.  Remove from pans and cool on wire rack.
